Indieguerillas is an artist duo founded in 1999 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, by husband and wife team, Santi Ariestyowanti and Dyatmiko “Miko” Bawono. Having both studied at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta, Santi has a background in Visual Communication Design, while for Miko, it is in Interior Design. They are interested in local folklore, design and pop culture, and produce work in a variety of media ranging from sculpture, installation and painting. Indieguerillas balance their respective commercial design practices while producing artworks collaboratively in a state which they call “work and play”; the duo merges design and art in a world saturated by consumerism and social media.
