Leon Leong (b. 1971, Perak, Malaysia) is an artist based in Malaysia. His art explores the relationship between man and the built environment to address broader themes of people, place and history. His work is storytelling and social commentary, rooted in painting and spreads to encompass photography, video, installation, and writing. His mixed-medium installation series Cracks in the Wall (2017–18) which comprises 43 artworks was exhibited in the inaugural Kuala Lumpur Biennale and featured in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 20/20 Forum. Leon's novella Whale Watch (2019) was recently published in Monsoon Review Literary Magazine. His novel Beautiful Things (2006), published by Crown Publishing Taiwan and serialised in Sin Chew Daily, was a top five finalist in the Crown International Fiction Awards. His short stories have won international awards and included in the anthology of Malaysian fiction. He received his Bachelor of Communication in 1992 from The University of Texas at Austin, USA.
