Sudarso (1914 - 2006, Indonesia) was born in Ajibarang, Purwokerto, Indonesia. While living in Bandung in the 1930's, he worked as a milk distributor. One of his customers was the painter Affandi. From this interaction, he joined Affandi, Hendra Gunawan, Barli Sasmitawinata, and Wahdi Sumanta in Kelompok Lima (Group of Five). The artist works in a photographic realist style and his paintings feature Javanese women, plain in appearance but full of  energy and spirit. When Akademi Seni Rupa Indonesia (ASRI) was founded in 1950, Sudarso  was recruited as a lecturer where he taught painting.
