Fauzul Yusri’s (b. 1974, Malaysia) naïve style paintings incorporate texture, text and figures while exploring material and technique. He maintains a highly individual vocabulary of mark-making on mature surfaces such as linen and jute. The heavy woven thread surfaces allow for the surface scarring and layering that are fundamental to the structure of his image making.
