Roberto Feleo’s artworks subtly comment on the changes and transitions of modern Philippine society. Ahon means something pulling out of water or going upward, and Pinutakte means infested with wasps. This series of sculptures exemplify Feleo’s interest in the complex struggles to overcome the colonial legacy in the Philippines, especially when it comes to a sense of national or cultural identity in the wake of the country’s history with successive colonial powers.
