Tajuddin Ismail (b. 1949, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia) studied at the MARA Institute of Technology (ITM) in Malaysia and then pursued Graphic Design at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, USA. He completed his postgraduate studies in Interior Architecture at Pratt Institute in New York, USA. In 1987, he was granted the Fulbright Research Fellowship by the American Council of Learned Societies of New York. Part of the semi-abstract movement of the late 70s and early 80s, Tajuddin’s stark abstract paintings combine the linear quality of drawing with expressive brush strokes and dynamic colour.
